If Arist is on your shortlist for microlearning, check what it sells today. In July 2026 Arist launched Arist Diagnostic, a platform whose AI agents interview employees and analyse company data to diagnose performance problems. Its website now presents the company as "AI research for consequential decisions". In announcing the launch, the company said it "began as a product that integrated microlearning into work streams". After a diagnosis, Arist can still send messages or coaching moments through Teams, Slack or SMS, but microlearning is no longer how the company presents itself. Its public pages do not say how the earlier product is offered to existing customers.
Many lists of microlearning platforms have not caught up with the change. This guide is for buyers who find Arist in those lists, and for teams that use it for messaging-based training and are reviewing their options.
Disclosure: this guide is published by zick learn, one of the platforms described. Every statement about other vendors is based on their public product information, linked in the sources. Information was reviewed in October 2026.
What to check before choosing an alternative
Five questions separate the options:
Which channels are documented
, and does learning happen inside the channel or does the channel only send a link?
How AI-generated content is reviewed
before it reaches people.
What counts as completion.
Reaching the end of a course and answering correctly are not the same thing.
How knowledge gaps are identified
across a team, not only learner by learner.
Whether the platform fits frontline and deskless workers
, who may not use a computer or company email.
Reaching the end of a course and answering correctly are not the same thing.
The alternatives
7taps
7taps describes itself as a learning delivery platform. Courses can be shared through Microsoft Teams, Slack, WhatsApp, SMS, email, links and QR codes. Analytics show progress, quiz scores and responses by learner or by question.
Strengths:
many delivery routes; responses can be reviewed question by question.
Limits:
courses are shared as a link that opens in one tap, so learning takes place on a 7taps course page rather than inside the chat itself. According to its help centre, "completion means the learner reached the end of the course": a learner can be counted as complete with a quiz score of 0%.
Best for:
teams that need to distribute short courses quickly and can accept completion as a measure of reach rather than understanding.
eduMe
eduMe focuses on frontline training in retail, hospitality, logistics and on-demand work. Delivery is documented through Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, SMS, email and employee apps such as Beekeeper. Manager insights compare departments and regions to show where knowledge gaps may be.
Strengths:
strong frontline focus; integrations with workforce tools; manager reporting.
Limits:
on WhatsApp, learners get one-tap access to the course rather than a lesson inside the conversation. How completion is defined is not documented in the sources reviewed, so completion rates cannot be read as evidence of understanding. Its WhatsApp delivery is documented in a 2024 product update rather than in its current product pages.
Best for:
very large frontline brands that already run an employee app or HR platform and want training attached to it.
Qstream
Qstream is a microlearning platform built around spaced learning and repetition, with a focus on healthcare, pharma and financial services. Content is delivered through Microsoft Teams, SMS, email and mobile. Heat maps identify knowledge gaps by user group, topic and question.
Strengths:
detailed knowledge-gap analytics; reinforcement over time.
Limits:
Slack and WhatsApp are not documented, which rules it out for teams that need training inside those apps. It is positioned for knowledge-intensive industries rather than frontline workers, and its public pages do not define what counts as completing a course.
Best for:
regulated, office-based teams such as sales forces in pharma or financial services.
Axonify
In May 2026 Axonify repositioned as an "AI-Powered Frontline Enablement Platform", combining microlearning with guided execution and readiness insights for managers. The sources reviewed describe delivery mainly through its own app, designed as a daily destination for frontline workers.
Strengths:
a broad frontline platform that goes beyond training; readiness and confidence data for managers.
Limits:
employees have to adopt another app. Its 2026 repositioning also makes it a wider enablement platform, with the cost and rollout effort that implies.
Best for:
large retail organisations ready to roll out a new daily app across their workforce.
zick learn
zick learn is an AI-native performance platform that turns company knowledge into short lessons delivered inside Microsoft Teams, Slack, WhatsApp, Google Chat, Webex or zick chat. Learning happens inside the chat, not behind a link to another portal. Each lesson takes less than two minutes.
Strengths:
the widest set of chat apps among the platforms reviewed (five, plus its own zick chat), with the lesson taking place inside the conversation; Learning Designers review, edit and regenerate every AI-generated lesson before delivery; a structured Learner Model with five dimensions adapts content to each target cohort; a lesson counts as completed only when its exercise is answered correctly within 72 hours, so completion means understanding rather than reach.
Good to know:
every learner's answer is recorded, including the option chosen when the answer is wrong, and can be exported for analysis across teams. There is no open-question chatbot for learners: lessons use structured exercises on reviewed content, by design, to keep learning time short.
Best for:
organisations with distributed and deskless teams that want learning inside the chat tools people already use, and a completion rate they can trust.

How to move from one platform to another
List what you have:
courses, audiences, languages and the reports your managers actually use.
Export your data
before the contract ends: learner results and course content.
Run a short pilot
with the same course and the same audience on the new platform for two to four weeks.

Frequently asked questions
Is Arist still a microlearning platform?
Arist's website now presents it as an AI research and diagnostics company. It can still send messages and coaching moments through Teams, Slack or SMS after a diagnosis, but microlearning is no longer the focus of how it describes itself. Existing customers should ask Arist directly about the future of their current product.
Which Arist alternatives support WhatsApp?
Among the platforms in this guide, 7taps, eduMe and zick learn document WhatsApp delivery.
Which alternative is best for frontline workers without company email?
Platforms that deliver inside tools people already have on their phones avoid the need for a corporate account. 7taps, eduMe and zick learn document this approach; Axonify uses its own app.
