Background
Fondazione Valter Longo was founded in 2015 by Professor Valter Longo, first in Los Angeles and later in Italy and Europe. It is a non-profit organization created with the mission of giving everyone the opportunity to live a long and healthy life. The Foundation promotes educational and scientific initiatives focused on nutrition, lifestyle, fasting, longevity, and age-related diseases such as cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, and obesity. Patients always come first, regardless of their ability to pay. Today, the Foundation operates internationally across the United States, Italy, Europe, Africa, and the UAE, collaborating with molecular biologists, dieticians, medical professionals, and researchers. Over the past five years, it has provided more than 35,000 nutritional advices, over 17,000 nutritional consultations, and reached approximately 70,000–75,000 students through school programs in nearly 2,000 schools across 45 countries.
The challenge
As a scientific foundation, Fondazione Valter Longo produces a large volume of high-quality content, including courses, books, and educational materials on nutrition and healthy longevity.
The main challenge was finding a way to:
Make complex, science-based content accessible to the general public
Preserve a professional, credible tone while simplifying delivery
Repurpose existing materials efficiently without adding significant workload
Reach people in a daily, practical, and engaging way
The Foundation was looking for a format that could educate, raise awareness, and maintain attention in a world where traditional long-form education struggles to engage.
Why zick learn
zick learn was selected because it aligned closely with the Foundation’s needs and constraints.
Key reasons included:
The ability to transform complex scientific knowledge into short, engaging microlearning lessons
A simple and intuitive user experience, accessible even through WhatsApp
Strong analytics to understand engagement and learning behavior
A low-tech entry point that reduced friction for users
Affordable operating costs suitable for a nonprofit organization
zick learn also enabled the Foundation to reuse existing content without requiring extensive additional work, while supporting both public awareness initiatives and potential corporate wellbeing programs.
Implementation
The Foundation worked closely with the zick learn team from the initial concept through to public launch.
The collaboration focused on:
Understanding how to adapt scientific content to a microlearning format
Structuring lessons into short, daily learning moments
Platform setup and integration into the Foundation’s delivery infrastructure
Paywall integration and analytics configuration
Microlearning allowed the Foundation to deliver accurate, science-based content in short lessons that could be consumed daily, revisited easily, and completed in under 90 seconds.
Results
The project quickly demonstrated strong engagement and learning effectiveness.
Quantitative results
86% average course completion rate
100% learner engagement
Over 420 hours of training delivered
The vast majority of planned lessons were attended, indicating sustained interest and consistent participation

Analytics provided clear visibility into how users interacted with content and progressed through learning paths
Conclusion
Through zick learn, Fondazione Valter Longo translated its scientific mission into daily, practical learning moments accessible directly on people’s phones.
Every day, users receive a short insight or practical tip based on the science of the Foundation, consume it in less than 90 seconds, and reinforce learning through interaction. This approach enables the Foundation to educate, raise awareness, and inspire healthier lives at scale, while staying true to its scientific rigor and nonprofit mission.
